Responsible gambling
MaxEdge is a tool for reading prices. It is not a bookmaker, it cannot take a bet from you, and it never holds your money. This page sets out what that means, what your bookmaker has to offer you, and where to get help that has nothing to do with us.

What MaxEdge is, and is not
MaxEdge compares the prices a set of bookmakers are showing on football matches and publishes what it finds. That is the whole product.
- We are not a bookmaker and hold no gambling licence. You cannot place a bet here. Every bet you place is with a bookmaker, under their account, their rules and their licence.
- We never hold your money. The only payment we take is a subscription to the site, through Stripe. We have no wallet, no balance and no way to move funds.
- Nothing here is advice. Not financial advice, not a tip, and not a recommendation to bet. A price we flag is a comparison between numbers, and a comparison is not a prediction.
- No outcome is guaranteed, and losing is the normal case. Bookmakers build a margin into every price they offer. Reading prices more carefully does not remove it. Our published record is at Performance, settled results and all, including the losing ones.
Staying in control
Gambling should be entertainment you can afford to lose. A few things that help:
- Decide what you can lose before you start, and treat it as spent the moment it leaves your account.
- Never bet money meant for something else — rent, bills, food, or anything borrowed.
- Do not chase a loss. Trying to win it back is how a bad afternoon becomes a bad month.
- Set a time limit as well as a money one. Hours are a cost too.
- Take regular breaks, and do not bet when you are upset, bored or drinking.
- Keep track of what you actually stake and actually win, not what you remember. Memory flatters the wins.
Tools your bookmaker has to offer you
Every bookmaker licensed in Great Britain has to offer these, and they are free. They sit in your account settings, usually under something like “safer gambling”:
- Deposit limits. A cap per day, week or month. Lowering one takes effect immediately; raising it has to wait, deliberately.
- Loss and stake limits, where the bookmaker offers them.
- Reality checks. A reminder on screen after a set time.
- Time out. A short break, from a day up to six weeks, during which you cannot bet.
- Self-exclusion. A longer block, from six months, which also stops their marketing reaching you.
Setting a deposit limit before you need one is easier than setting it after, and it is the single most effective thing on this list.
Blocking yourself from gambling
GAMSTOP blocks you from every gambling website and app licensed in Great Britain, with one registration, for six months, one year or five years. It is free, and once it starts it cannot be undone before the period ends.
For betting shops, Gamban and similar blocking software covers devices rather than accounts, and your bank may let you block gambling transactions on your card. Many UK banks offer that switch in their app.
MaxEdge is not a gambling operator, so GAMSTOP does not cover this site. If you have self-excluded and want your subscription here closed too, email support@maxedge.live and we will cancel it and delete your account. We will not ask you to reconsider.
Signs it has stopped being fun
Worth asking yourself honestly:
- Are you betting more than you meant to, or more often?
- Are you betting to win back what you lost?
- Have you borrowed money, sold something, or used money meant for bills?
- Are you hiding it from people close to you?
- Is it getting in the way of work, sleep, or the people you live with?
- Do you feel restless or irritable when you try to cut down?
If more than one of those lands, it is worth talking to someone. The services below are free, confidential and have no connection to us.
Free, independent help
- National Gambling Helpline — free, 24 hours a day, every day. 0808 8020 133, or live chat at gamcare.org.uk.
- BeGambleAware — advice, self-assessment and a directory of local support. begambleaware.org.
- GamCare — free treatment and support, in person and online. gamcare.org.uk.
- Gamblers Anonymous — peer support groups across the UK. gamblersanonymous.org.uk.
- GamFam and Gam-Anon — support for family and friends, who are affected too and are often the last to be offered anything.
What we do at our end
What we do at our end, so you can hold us to it:
- We publish the losses. The settled record at Performance keeps every result we have shown, including the ones that went down. Removing a losing pick after the fact would be the easiest thing in the world and we do not do it.
- We do not sell your data to bookmakers, and we take no commission or affiliate payment for sending you to one. Nothing on this site earns more when you bet more.
- We do not advertise bonuses, free bets or offers, because we are not paid to.
- Close your account whenever you want. Settings has an export and a delete, and the delete is real. See the privacy policy.
